DESCRIPTION:Join us for a different kind of book discussion centered on the 
 book The Greatest Sentence Ever Written by Walter Isaacson. In this short 
 book\, a mere 67 pages\, Mr. Isaacson explores the second sentence of the 
 Declaration of Independence\, “We hold these truths to be self-evident\, 
 that all men are created equal\, that they are endowed by their Creator 
 with certain unalienable Rights\, that among these are Life\, Liberty\, and 
 the Pursuit of Happiness.” The impact of those words on our nation’s 
 values and identity has been profound.\n\nWe will read certain passages of 
 the book aloud and ask participants to share their insights and reflect on 
 how they resonate with contemporary issues as we sit on the cusp of 
 America’s 250th anniversary. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect 
 with fellow readers and celebrate our shared heritage.\n\nRegistration is 
 required and can be completed online\, by phone\, or in person starting on 
 May 27 at 9 am. A free copy of the book “The Greatest Sentence Ever 
 Written” is available for everyone who registers. You may pick up your 
 book at the Information Desk or curbside pick-up.  Sign-ups close one hour 
 before the program starts or when registration is full\, whichever comes 
 first. \n\nSeating begins 15 minutes before the event starts.\n\n\n\n 
 \n\nThis event celebrates America's 250th anniversary at the Howell 
 Carnegie Library. A gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York 
 partially funds it. Part of the "Carnegie Libraries 250" initiative\, these 
 funds honor the 250th anniversary of the United States and  libraries' role 
 as "cradles of democracy." Learn more about the history of America's 
 founding on the library's website.\n\n \n\nPlease stay home if you are 
 sick.\nLibrary staff may photograph or videotape portions of this event and 
 its attendees for use in promotional materials and on social media.
