STEAM Club: Exploring Solar Radiation (grades 3-6) Online

The Sun makes all life possible on Earth, but sometimes, its radiation can be harmful. Join us as we explore how to protect ourselves from the Sun's ultraviolet rays. We will first make a UV creature with color-changing beads and pipe cleaners, then we will determine how to best protect them from ultraviolet light. Finally, we will make a simple detector to determine if UV radiation is affecting you.

After registering, attending this event has 2 steps: supply pickup followed by live virtual instruction.

Step 1: Register below, beginning 10am on Friday, November 12. Please register each individual child that will need a kit & be participating. Class is geared toward students in grades 3-6.

Step 2: Each registered attendee can pick up a Steam Club kit containing all needed supplies. Drive up to Curbside Pickup at the back door of the library Friday, November 26 - Saturday, December 4 during the Library's curbside hours (Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm & Friday-Saturday 10am-4pm). Let library staff know what you're picking up and the registered name(s).

Step 3: Live virtual instruction will take place over Zoom on Monday, December 6, 6:30-7:00pm. Have your kit ready to go and log-in to Zoom a few minutes before 6:30pm.

You will receive a confirmation email when you register & you will receive an email reminder 1 day prior to the class from "Library Events Home" - both emails will contain the zoom link.
