Dams, Dirt, Drains, and Rains: The Office of the Livingston County Drain Commissioner with Brian Jonckheere Online

The Livingston County Drain Commissioner is a water resource manager for Livingston County who balances the protection of individual property and human health with environmental protection. The Drain Commissioner deals almost exclusively with issues that directly or indirectly affect water quality. The Drain Commissioner's office is actively involved in:

  • County-wide storm water management
  • Watershed planning
  • Lake management and improvement
  • Dams
  • Solid waste programs like household hazardous waste disposal
  • Wastewater treatment
  • Soil erosion control programs

 

Brian Jonckheere was elected Livingston County Drain Commissioner in 1996. A fourth generation resident of Livingston County, he holds a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from Michigan State University and a M.S. State University of New York at Syracuse in Environmental Biology. His background includes work in the environmental health area as a Sanitarian for the Livingston County Health Department.


Registration is required and begins Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10am, closing one hour before the program starts. The Zoom meeting link and password will be emailed to registered participants prior to the program. See below for technical requirements.

The event includes a live Q&A session after the conversation and as many audience questions will be addressed as time permits. If you have questions ahead of the program, please enter them into the registration form when you sign up or submit them on this form in advance of the program and we will do our best to have your question(s) addressed live during the event.
