Science Club Jr: Engineer Your Own Boat (Grades 1-3) Online
Ahoy mates! Bring your creativity and building skills and join us for a fun exploration of ship construction. Participants will get everything they need to build their very own sailboat! We will discuss the basic parts of a boat and then decorate and construct our own. After construction, we can float our boats on the provided trays with a small amount of water and talk about how a sailing ship moves and stays afloat. After registering, attending this event has 2 steps: supply pickup followed by live virtual instruction.
Note: If you don't want to use water, the boats may move on a smooth surface.
Step 1: Register below, beginning 10am on Monday, November 2. Please register each individual child that will need a kit & be participating. Class is geared toward students in grades 1-3 with adult supervision.
Step 2: Each registered attendee can pick up a Science Club Jr. kit containing needed supplies. Drive up to Curbside Pickup at the back door of the library Monday, November 16 - Saturday, November 21 during the library's open hours (Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm & Friday-Saturday 10am-2pm); not available for pickup after 2pm Saturday, November 21st.
Step 3: Live virtual instruction will take place over Zoom on Monday, November 23rd, 6:30-7:00pm (about 30 minutes long). Have your kit, some towel or rags, a small container of water & excited self ready to go and log-in to Zoom a few minutes before 6:30pm. Adult supervision is recommended.
