HCDL Big Tree Hunt Day (Outdoor Event)

HCDL Big Tree Hunt Day (Outdoor Event) In-Person

Join the Howell Library in participating in the Michigan Big Tree Hunt.  Our HCDL Big Tree Hunt Day will take place outdoors on Saturday, September 26, 12:30-2:00pm.  Each family/group/individual that registers will get all needed measuring tools, instructions, a submission form (or use this online form), and some clues to help you find a few of the biggest trees in Howell.  You can start with finding the ones we give you clues for or just wander around Howell on your own.  Head back to the library before 2:00pm to turn in your measuring tools and submission form and let us know what you found.

You could find the largest tree in your county or even the state!  The biggest trees are nominated for the State Champion Tree List and can even be entered into the official National Register of Big Trees.

Registration is required and begins at 10am on Thursday, September 17.  Please register 1 person’s name for your family/group/individual and use that name when you check-in.

Upon arrival, please find a HCDL staff member outdoors, on the East side of the library near the fountain, to check-in and receive further instructions.  Please wear a mask at check-in.  If you cannot maintain 6' of social distance, masks are required for age 5 and up.

This event is weather dependent.  A decision will be made at 11:30am and you will be notified by e-mail if it is cancelled.

Please note that the library has limited capacity, limited bathroom availability, and no water fountains. Access to the library is only permitted through the front door.  Saturday hours are 10am-2pm.
