Jackbox games with HCDL In-Person

Teens in grades 6-12 can register to play Quiplash and other Jackbox games remotely with Howell Library staff and other teens.  Instructions for playing each game will be given, followed by time to play the game.  Estimated length is 40 minutes, but we may opt to play some extra rounds!

Registration is required and will begin at 10am on Monday, June 1 and closes at 7pm on June 8.
Space is limited; a minimum number of 3 registrants is needed by Monday, June 8; if the event fills, please register for the waitlist so we can contact you if additional times are added or email youth@howelllibrary.org .  Please register each individual that will participate. Each participant needs Internet access and 1-2 devices that can run the 2 applications (see requirements).

Requirements:

  • We will be using Zoom & Jackbox.tv, over the Internet, to play Quiplash & other Jackbox games. In addition to needing robust Internet access and a device, please download (or update to the latest version) the software application for Zoom. When registering, please indicate if you would like HCDL staff to help run a “technology check” beforehand with you.
  • You will need one or two devices to use as follows...  We will be using Zoom as a virtual gameroom to meet with the host, and the other players, and receive “room codes” for each game we play.  While the “ideal” set-up is to join the Zoom session on a desktop or laptop, then use a Smartphone or Tablet as your game controller, tech-savvy teens can also join and play using two browser windows, one for Zoom, and one for jackbox.tv.  Participants will receive the Zoom session information 2 days prior to the event.  During the event, when a “room code” is shared, participants will visit jackbox.tv and enter the room code to start the game.
  • This event is for students entering grade 6-12 in the fall. Please register each individual that will participate; we are registering by individuals, not families/groups.

What is Quiplash?

Quiplash is the gut-busting battle of wits and wittiness! Just use your phone or tablet (no controllers needed) to answer simple prompts like these:

  • Something you’d be surprised to see a donkey do
  • A double rainbow doesn’t have gold at the end of it. Instead, it has ______.
  • A better name for France

Please register each teen that will participate. Each participant needs Internet access and 1-2 devices (see requirements).
