Summer Reading Kickoff Party (grades 4-5 with parents/caregivers & grades 6-12) (Outdoors) In-Person
Celebrate the start of our 2026 Summer Reading Challenge at our kickoff party! Here, you can:
- Check out some cool bugs from Bugs on Wheels.
- Play yard games like axe throwing, Tetris Tumble, and cornhole.
- Get a glitter tattoo.
- Make mandala sand art, a friendship bracelet, and a painted 3D picture.
- Stop by and see SCOTS Bots (Howell High School's Robotics Team) for a hands-on STEAM activity and to see their robot in action.
- Head inside to the Meabon Room to use our photo booth to commemorate the day.
- See Howell Library staff on the lawn or inside to get signed up for our 2026 Summer Reading Challenge.
This free, drop-in event is geared toward upper elementary, middle school, and high school students. See our calendar for our Summer Reading Kickoff Party for preschool and elementary-age children.
The Summer Lunch Bunch will serve a picnic meal at 11:45am. Meals are free and available for anyone to enjoy on a first-come basis.
Please note:
- We will be on the library lawn for this event. Feel free to bring sunscreen, hats, and/or bug spray.
- In case of poor weather, some activities will occur in the library.
- Stay home if you are sick.
- Library staff may photograph or videotape portions of this event and its attendees for use in promotional materials and on social media.
