Get ready for a festive, hands-on celebration of creativity with our Gingerbread House Decorating Contest- with a unique twist: no candy, no frosting, no gumdrops. Instead, we're challenging participants to think outside the (gingerbread) box and use only non-edible materials to bring their gingerbread houses to life.  

Gather your team (all ages welcome!) and get ready to transform cardboard gingerbread house kits into extraordinary works of art.   

The library will provide cardboard house kits (while supplies last) and have a limited supply of craft materials available for participants to take and use. Participants will build and decorate their kits at home and return their completed project to the Information Desk. Submissions must be turned into the Information Desk by 7:00pm on Monday, December 8. 

Gift cards to the Historic Howell Theater will be awarded to the three winning teams (one gift card per team). Winners will be notified by telephone on Friday, December 12.  All entries will be displayed in the library until Monday, January 5.

Pick up your cardboard gingerbread house kit from the Information Desk on Sunday, November 23-Friday December 5 during the library's open hours (Monday-Thursday 9am-7pm, Friday-Saturday 9am-4pm & Sunday 12-4) Please note the library closes at 5pm on Wednesday, November 26 and will be closed on Thursday, November 27 for Thanksgiving. Limited extra supplies will be available at the information Desk while supplies last, please ask staff for more information.  

Registration is required and begins on Monday, November 10 at 9am online, by phone, or in person at the Information Desk. Sign-ups close Friday, December 5, or when registration is full. Please only register once per team as supplies are limited.
