Fall into Reading: Quiet Reading Night at the Library In-Person

Do you have trouble finding time and space to read? Was “Sustained Silent Reading” your favorite subject in elementary school? Do you want to be in community space with other book-lovers without actually engaging with them? Come to the Howell Library to read and enjoy donuts and apple cider! BYOBook, or read one of ours.

We ask that all cell phones and devices be turned off or put on silent mode so as to not disturb other silent reading participants. If you don’t even want to be tempted by your device, you can set it in a dedicated space for phones that will keep you focused on your goal.

Attendees may enter the building through the Grand River doors up to 7pm when the library closes but will exit the building through the Clinton Street doors.

Registration is required and begins Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 9am online, by phone, or in person at the Information Desk. Sign-ups close 1 day before the program starts, or when registration is full. A minimum of five (5) registrants by Wednesday, October 15, is required for this program to proceed as scheduled.

Seating begins 15 minutes before the event start time.
Please stay home if you are sick.
